About Teachers' Academy
The Teachers’ Academy program seeks to address the lack of African American educators in the classroom. The Teachers’ Academy will allow aspiring teachers to gain valuable teaching experience and professional development at the FAME Academy. FAME Fellows will benefit from an intense curriculum and 3-year career mentorship designed by a cohort of educational advisors to address the lack of Black educators in the greater Pittsburgh area.

The vision is to see a national movement where Black teachers are hired in clusters in schools, to achieve equity in the Black student and teacher population.
Making A Difference
“Children are our most precious resource. We know the educational system is inequitable and fails to adequately educate too many Black children. We also know that when Black teachers serve as mirrors in the classroom, Black student achievement increases. Therefore, it is only logical that we create a resource-filled pipeline to ensure the next generation of aspiring Black teachers develop into our educational teacher leaders”
